Mr Skinner

Today in Mr Skinners lesson the Class and I watched ‘Coraline’. I have learnt about Animation, ‘Stop Motion Animation’;Stop Motion Animation means that there are twenty four frames per second for example because of this a film like ‘Coraline’ would actually take about six years to make. Also a twenty four second clip could take up to three weeks to make , I have also learnt “How the Puppets are made” I noticed how flexible the Puppets skin atually is, why the the skeleton has to be strong; the skeleton has to be so strong because the need to be able to hold a shape and also be able to move around into different postions so that the puppets can perform on point. And how the hair is actually fibrous hair, this means that it does not need animating and can benefit the Puppets as it has a more realistic look to it. The point of todays lesson was to get a better insight into Henry selick’s style which I believe I have achieved.

Mr Skinner

Today we talked about the history of animation, and how it has developed, for example what stop motion animation was like in the early 1900s and how it is now. The different styles of animation and how the current day animation has been inspired by the animation before hand.  we also talked about the purpose of research and why we do actually need to do our research before actually proceeding with the task at hand.We talked about the mathematics behind animation and how an animator will break the animation down. we also watched a thew clips of stop motion animation in the early days, for example we watched Jason + theargonautts by Ray Harry Hausen this gave us a better understanding on how to use stop motion animation and how to use our surroundings to our advantage.

Today we looked further into the history of animation, ‘Stop Motion Animation’ to be specific, We looked at a range different clips show casing the way the Stop Motion Animation has changed over time. For example we looked at “The execution of Mary, Queen of Scots” (1895), We then also looked at the ‘John lewis’ advert- “The Bear & The Hare” (2013) to get a better understanding of how animators use stop motion animation at a more up to date time. After watching these clips we then used a website named ‘Prezi.com’ and we started to work with the power point software available on this website, To then work on a power point highlighting the evolution of ‘Stop Motion Animation’.

Today in class we used a webcam and software to make a short stop motion animation clip, The name of the software was called ‘Animate It’. Sir made a thew short videos this give us a better idea of how to plan out our own videos. He told us to try to exaggerate everything in our videos as much as we possibly could, he then gave us a better insight into how many frames per second to take and he also got a thew class mates involved in making a video to help us to gain confidence with stop motion animation videos.

Mr Skinner

Today in Mr Skinners class Me and Kay-lee formed a pair in order to make a stop motion advert about the promo we previously made. We have came up with ideas similar to the Levi Roots stop motion advert, however realized how complex singing would be to combine with a clay model in the advert so if we were to use this then it would require a lot of cut aways. this is just one idea that we are thinking about developing, This is not our final idea at the moment. we also noticed that at the start of our promo it sounds really Dark as we listened we heard black and white colors not , Yellows, Blues, and Greens. so we may need to manipulate the promo to suit it to our advert.

Today in Mr Skinners lesson we looked at a new assessment; Task 2: Sketchbook Research. Looking at ideas and thought processes that artist go threw while drawing/designing characters, and giving us a better insight into how we would like to format our own sketchbooks.
